Heritage Highway USA   |   A Separate Collection from the 19 Pueblos of New Mexico

In March 2012, Pablo Flores drove across America and collected what the road had left behind.

Barn wood, license plates, hinges, gears, tin, leather, found hardware. Materials pulled from small towns and back roads, from places that had worked hard and been forgotten. He brought them back to his studio in the Taos Valley and built them into this.

The method is the message. Nothing is artificially distressed. Every surface shows real age and real use. The history of the place it came from remains visible in the object itself.

Flores does not imitate local iconography. He does not borrow the imagery of the road or romanticize its decline. He lets the material speak. What you are acquiring is Southwest folk art built from the overlooked beauty of the American road and from the conviction that discarded things carry worth.
