What Makes Huipil Special?

Huipil is part of a longstanding Maya textile tradition in Guatemala. Traditional huipiles are woven and often embroidered cotton garments, with designs, colors and techniques varying among Maya communities.

Here, the distinctive textile becomes the focal point of a functional everyday wallet, preserving the visible weave, embroidery, color variation and handmade character that make the material special.

No two handmade textile pieces are exactly alike. Small variations in stitching, texture and pattern placement are part of the character of the wallet rather than manufacturing defects.
